How we handle the information you share with The Boundless Chapter Club.

Last updated: 8 September 2026

1. Who We Are

The Boundless Chapter Club is a private online reading community. We host reading challenges, featured author collections, member discussions, and seasonal events. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

For any question about this policy, or to request access to or deletion of your data, contact us through our contact form and the moderator team will respond.

2. Information We Collect

Community profile details. To open a book page or take part in the reading challenge, we ask for your first name, last name, and email address. Your first and last name appear in our public member directory; your email address does not.

Account information. If you create a member account, we store your email address, an encrypted password credential, and any display name, location, avatar, or short bio you choose to add.

Content you submit. Event sign-ups, contact messages, author feature applications, reviews, and discussion posts are stored with the details you provide.

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting and security providers automatically record standard request data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this to keep the site available and to detect abuse.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to run the club: to show you and other members the directory, to unlock book and event pages, to send you the details of an event you signed up for, to reply to messages you send us, to review author applications, and to keep the site secure and working correctly.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, we process your information on the basis of your consent (when you submit a form or create a profile), our legitimate interests in operating and securing a reading community, and, where relevant, compliance with legal obligations.

5. Service Providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the site: a managed database and authentication provider that stores member records, a hosting and content delivery provider that serves the pages and images, and public book data services such as Open Library that supply cover images and bibliographic details. These providers process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use strictly necessary cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember that you have completed your community profile so you are not asked again on every book page. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear this data at any time in your browser settings, though doing so will sign you out.

7. Data Retention

We keep member profiles and account records for as long as your membership is active. Contact messages and event sign-ups are kept for up to twenty-four months so we can follow up and keep an accurate record of attendance. When you ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our live systems within thirty days, except where we are required to keep a record for legal reasons.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have your information deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to be removed from the public member directory while keeping your account.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us and we will respond within thirty days.

9. Children

This site is intended for readers aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

10. Security

Member records are held in an access-controlled database with row-level security rules, so members can only reach the records they are entitled to see. Traffic to and from the site is encrypted. No online service can promise absolute security, but we review our access rules whenever the site changes.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we make a material change to this policy we will update the date below and, where the change significantly affects members, note it on the site. Continued use of the club after a change means you accept the updated policy.

12. Contact Us

Questions about your data or this policy are always welcome. Reach us any time through our contact form.
